First things first; everyone should have contra dance at their wedding. We didn’t know what it was before Emily + Colin’s amazing celebration but, it was one of the many things that made their wedding so darn special. Contra dance is basically partnered folk dancing that has been around for a super long time. If you live around Santa Cruz you can go up to the Pie Ranch and try it for your self when they hold their monthly Barn Dance (they are usually on a Saturday but we are for sure going once wedding season slows down this winter- who’s in?). It was such a fun part of the reception, got everyone dancing and seemed to take you back to the era of the amazing house that Emily + Colin were married around (see pictures below!). What a gem of an amazing property- tucked away in Seabright you would never know that such a big part of Santa Cruz’s history is still in tact- and lovely! Emily spends a lot of time in Mexico so the details of their wedding had papel picado, bright colors + some traditional mexican food mixed with Santa Cruz elements. There were giant Dahlia’s and we loved the beautiful drawings of local animals that served as table markers. Emily + Colin you two are the real deal and we loved being a part of your epic celebration and can’t wait to hang out soon (vecinos!).
